Phuket Trip Report - Day 1
Day 1 (26th December 2006)
First day of travel. Ashley was very jumpy and excited that she would be flying on an airplane soon. But she was soon disappointed as we had a long delay at the airport. Our ticket said that boarding time was at 2.50pm but we were still there until 3.45pm before we were even allowed on our plane.
Upon arrival at Phuket International Airport, we had to set our clocks back by 1 hour (Thailand is slower than Malaysia by 1 hour). Passing through immigration was easy, seriously. They work faster than our immigration office, even with the amount of tourist coming to Phuket. As we leave the departure hall, I met up with the driver that was suppose to bring us to Connect Guesthouse. The drive was about 45 minutes to 1 hour before we reached Patong Beach. After we had reached the front of our "hotel", we checked in and dumped our stuffs. Then went out for a short walk. It was already 6 or 7pm by then, and I was feeling pretty hungry. So as we were walking down the street, we were approached by this guy introducing the restaurant that he's working at. So, we went over and ate there (I was very hungry then, so I went to any shop that sold food). Food was quite nice and the price was okay too.
After that, we went for a walk around the area, and saw a lot of people releasing balloons in the air. After looking at them properly, Ashley noted that they were Kung Ming Lanterns. They just look really nice. We also did check out all the tour agents that can be found around the area (mind you, there is a lot of tour agents around and price is definitely very competitive) before retiring back to our room for the night.
We went to this particular tour agent called P.U.K Tours and booked 2 tours with them, Phuket Fantasea Show & the ATV in Phuket. We decided to do the Phuket Fantasea show on the 27th of December and the ATV on the 28th of December. The price that they offered us were 4,600 THB for the ATV (Originally 2,600 THB per person) and for the Fantasea show, it was a fixed price of 1,600 THB per person, but this is inclusive of a free transport there and return to the hotel, otherwise, it would be an additional 140 THB.
